Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Eligibility for TRT is typically determined through a combination of blood tests and a comprehensive review of your medical history and symptoms by a licensed healthcare provider. Blood tests are used to measure your current testosterone levels, while a thorough assessment helps to rule out other potential causes of your symptoms. Common symptoms of low testosterone include fatigue, low libido, muscle loss, and mood changes.
Regular blood tests are crucial while on TRT to monitor your testosterone levels and ensure they are within a healthy and safe range. They also help to monitor for changes to your health, such as changes in blood lipid levels, other hormone levels, red blood cell count, and prostate health. The licensed healthcare practitioner assessing your case will use the results of these tests to adjust your treatment plan as necessary, ensuring that you receive the most benefit from TRT with the least risk.
Both forms of TRT have similar potential side effects, although the severity and occurrence might vary. Common side effects include acne, oily skin, increased body or facial hair, mood swings, and a potential increase in red blood cell count. Testosterone gel may cause skin irritation at the application site, while testosterone cypionate injections can cause pain or swelling at the injection site.
TRT can potentially impact fertility by decreasing your luteinizing hormone (LH) levels, which in turn decreases sperm production. If you wish to have children in the future, it’s crucial to inform us before starting TRT. Our licensed healthcare practitioners may prescribe hCG in addition to testosterone to help you maintain fertility while on treatment.
To naturally boost testosterone, you may consider lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in zinc and vitamin D, reducing stress through mindfulness practices, and ensuring adequate sleep. Maintaining a healthy weight and reducing alcohol intake can also be beneficial. If you are unsure whether you have low testosterone, our testosterone eligibility assessment is a cost-effective and efficient way to know if you need a boost to your testosterone levels.
If you live with or frequently have close contact with women or children, you should be cautious with testosterone gel as it can transfer to others through skin-to-skin contact, potentially causing adverse effects like hair growth in women or early puberty in children. It’s essential to follow application instructions carefully, cover the application area with clothing once the gel has dried, and wash hands thoroughly after applying. Discuss with your healthcare provider about the suitability of testosterone gel in your situation or explore alternative TRT options like injections.

Testosterone Gel 1%

Testosterone Gel 1% should be applied once daily to clean, dry, intact skin, on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen. It’s crucial to follow the dosing instructions provided by the prescribing licensed medical practitioner and allow the gel to dry completely before dressing. Our practitioners recommend for you to apply the gel in the morning for best results.
Depending on if you are prescribed the generic Taro-Testosterone Gel 1% or the Brand-name Androgel 1%, and your prescribed dosage, the price may vary. For most patients starting on gel, the generic Taro-Testosterone Gel 1% costs $137.33 per 30-day supply. A 3-month supply is typically prescribed (90 days).
Coverage for Testosterone Gel 1% may vary among different insurance plans in Canada. Most insurance plans cover 80-100% of the cost of the medication. Please check with your insurance plan for your exact coverage percentage.
It’s important to avoid swimming, bathing, or showering until gel has fully dried after applying Testosterone Gel 1%. Also, make sure to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after application. It is very important to avoid skin-to-skin contact with others in the area where the gel was applied to prevent transferring testosterone to them, especially with women or children.
Bloodwork is required initially to establish your baseline testosterone levels. After treatment begins monitoring occurs at 1-month (only when you first start therapy or after a major dose increase), and then regularly every 2.5 months before each renewal to monitor your response to the treatment. However, the prescribing licensed practitioner will make specific determinations on the frequency of the required testing for any specific case, which may deviate from the previously mentioned schedule.
If you stop using Testosterone Gel 1%, your testosterone levels may decrease, and symptoms of low testosterone could return. You must not stop therapy without discussing this with your healthcare provider. Gambit’s healthcare providers will advise on discontinuation protocol and procedures.

Testosterone Cypionate

Testosterone Cypionate is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as androgens. It’s used to treat symptoms of hypogonadism (low testosterone) in men, which can result from either the testes not producing enough testosterone or the brain not signaling the testes to produce testosterone.
Testosterone Cypionate works by supplementing or replacing the testosterone that is naturally produced in the body. It helps to restore and maintain testosterone levels, which may help improve symptoms like low energy, mood swings, loss of muscle mass, and trouble with sexual performance.
This medication is typically administered as an intramuscular injection, usually once a week. The exact dosage and frequency will depend on a licensed health practitioner’s assessment of your individual circumstances, including your testosterone levels, your response to the treatment, and the severity of your symptoms.
Side effects of testosterone cypionate can include acne, pain and swelling at the injection site, hair loss, breast tenderness, and mood changes. More serious but less common side effects include liver problems, prostate enlargement, gynecomastia, and the potential development of blood clots.
It’s important to inform the assessing and monitoring licensed healthcare provider(s) about any pre-existing conditions, especially prostate cancer, heart or blood conditions, surgical history, and all other medications you are taking. Regular monitoring by a licensed healthcare provider, including blood tests, is necessary to check for unwanted effects and to ensure that the prescribed dose is appropriate for you.
If you experience severe side effects like chest pain, shortness of breath, unusual weight gain, signs of a blood clot, or an allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately.
There could be potential interactions between Testosterone Cypionate and other medications. It’s crucial to inform a licensed healthcare provider assessing your case and provide a list of all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal products.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that supports the normal development of an egg in a woman’s ovary and stimulates its release during ovulation. In men, it’s used to stimulate the testes to produce testosterone and is often utilized alongside Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) to maintain fertility and testicular function.
In men, hCG mimics the action of Luteinizing Hormone (LH), which stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone, a crucial hormone for sperm production. When used with TRT, hCG can help maintain or boost fertility by promoting sperm production, even as exogenous testosterone is being introduced to the body.
Men undergoing TRT who wish to maintain fertility or testicular function may qualify for hCG therapy. You may also qualify for It’s crucial to be assessed comprehensively by a licensed medical practitioner who can determine if hCG is a suitable addition to your TRT regimen based on your medical history, current health status, and personal fertility goals.
The duration for which you need to take hCG will depend on your individual circumstances, such as your age, overall health, and fertility goals. It’s not typically a lifelong therapy, and Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners take into consideration your health, lab results, and fertility goals to make recommendations on the duration of your treatment.
If you stop taking hCG while on TRT, your body may cease producing its own testosterone and sperm, which might lead to reduced fertility and testicular atrophy over time. It’s important to discuss any changes in your treatment plan with your healthcare provider before making adjustments.
Gambit’s licensed health practitioners require bloodwork to be done in the morning, as that’s when testosterone levels are at their highest. However, additional requirements may vary based on the specific tests being conducted and Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners will provide specific instructions with each lab requisition.
The frequency of bloodwork will depend on the assessment by Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners, which can be influenced by your age, health status, and response to treatment. Initially, bloodwork will be required at 1-month and 2/2.5-months to monitor your response to the combination of TRT and hCG. Once a stable dosing regimen is established, Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners will determine the appropriate regular testing schedule for you.

Human Growth Hormone

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland that plays a vital role in growth, body composition, cell repair, and metabolism. It’s crucial for growth in children and adolescents, and also affects various bodily functions in adults.
HGH treatments can be prescribed by healthcare providers and specialized clinics. Get Gambit’s HGH Program is only available in the provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec. If you are not in those provinces, sign up to our mailing list or sign up an account and be notified when we are available in your region.
HGH deficiency can manifest through symptoms like increased body fat, decreased muscle mass, fatigue, reduced bone density, and altered cholesterol levels. A definitive diagnosis requires a thorough evaluation by a licensed medical practitioner, including blood tests to measure your HGH levels. Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners will conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine your need for HGH therapy.
To qualify for HGH treatment through Get Gambit, you’ll need to go through an online consultation process where your medical history, symptoms, and any previous blood tests will be reviewed. Our medical practitioners will issue you a lab requisition to complete blood tests to assess your HGH levels and other biomarkers.
The process at Get Gambit starts with an online consultation to evaluate your hormone levels and for our licensed medical practitioners to review your symptoms. Following the consultation, if a treatment plan is deemed necessary, it will be tailored to your needs and medications will be shipped to your location. Continuous monitoring and follow-up consultations ensure the effectiveness of the treatment and allow for any necessary adjustments.
Stopping HGH therapy abruptly can cause a reversion to the previous symptoms you experienced from HGH deficiency. It might also lead to withdrawal symptoms such as fatigue, change in appetite, or depression. It’s essential to discuss with our licensed healthcare practitioners at Get Gambit before making any changes to your HGH treatment plan.
The frequency of bloodwork will depend on your individual treatment plan as outlined by Get Gambit’s licensed medical practitioners. Initially, bloodwork may be required more frequently to monitor your response to treatment. Once a stable dosing regimen is established, the regular frequency of bloodwork will vary between individuals based on a specific testing schedule indicated by our licensed medical practitioners.

Sildenafil

Sildenafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
It works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help men get and keep an erection and by relaxing and widening the blood vessels in the lungs to decrease the blood pressure.
The usual starting dose is 50mg, but it can range from 25mg to 100mg depending on individual response and tolerance. It’s usually taken as needed before sexual activity. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by the prescribing licensed healthcare provider.
Common side effects include headache, flushing, upset stomach, abnormal vision, nasal congestion, back pain, muscular pain, nausea, dizziness, and rash. Serious side effects are rare but can include an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision loss, and sudden hearing loss.
Avoid taking Sildenafil if you’re also taking nitrates for chest pain, as this can cause a serious drop in blood pressure. Discuss with your healthcare provider if Sildenafil is safe for you, especially if you have heart problems or are taking other medications. Our health practitioners will assess you based on the information you provide.
If you experience severe side effects like an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision loss, or chest pain, seek medical attention immediately.
It’s crucial to inform us of all medications you’re currently taking as Sildenafil can interact with other drugs, especially nitrates and alpha-blockers. Our health practitioners will assess you based on the information you provide.
Sildenafil is not approved for use in women. However, there’s ongoing research regarding its use in women with sexual arousal disorders.

Tadalafil

Tadalafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
Tadalafil works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of blood vessels, allowing for increased blood flow to certain areas of the body. For ED, this helps to maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity.
Tadalafil can be taken as needed or on a daily basis, depending on a few factors. It’s usually taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. Always follow the dosage and administration instructions provided by the prescribing healthcare provider.
Common side effects may include headache, upset stomach, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, and stuffy or runny nose. These side effects usually go away after a few hours, although muscle aches and back pain can last up to two days.
Avoid taking Tadalafil if you are also using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems, as this combination can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Inform your healthcare provider of your medical history and all other medications you are taking.
Severe side effects may include a prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden decreased vision or loss of hearing. If you experience any of these or other severe side effects, seek medical attention immediately.
It’s essential to discuss with your healthcare provider before combining Tadalafil with other medications as certain drug interactions can occur. This is especially crucial if you are taking medications for heart problems, other PDE5 inhibitors, or alpha-blockers.

Vardenafil

Vardenafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
Vardenafil is typically taken as an oral tablet about 60 minutes before sexual activity, with or without food.
The usual starting dose is 10 mg, but it can range from 5 mg to 20 mg depending on individual response and tolerance. The licensed healthcare provider assessing your case will determine the right dose for you. If you have had previously taken Vardenafil, please let us know and indicate the strength and frequency that you have been taking.
Common side effects include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, stomach upset, heartburn, and dizziness. Serious side effects are rare but can include an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision loss, and sudden hearing loss.
It’s crucial to inform us of all medications you’re currently taking as Vardenafil can interact with other drugs, especially nitrates and alpha-blockers. Our health practitioners will assess you based on the information you provide.
Avoid drinking alcohol, as it can increase certain side effects of Vardenafil. It’s also advisable to avoid grapefruit products as they can interact with Vardenafil and lead to unwanted effects. Our health practitioners will provide more information should they identify that a specific recommendation is needed based on the information you provide.
Vardenafil is taken as needed, so you’re not likely to miss a dose. However, do not take more than one dose within a 24-hour period, or as directed by our licensed health providers.
Store Vardenafil at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Individuals with certain preexisting medical conditions, such as heart disease, or those on medications like nitrates should not take Vardenafil unless given specific authorization by a licensed healthcare provider after an assessment.
No, Vardenafil requires a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

Paroxetine

Premature ejaculation (PE) is typically characterized by an inability to delay ejaculation during sexual activity, often resulting in ejaculation sooner than both you and your partner desire. It’s a common issue that many men experience. If you find that you frequently ejaculate sooner than you’d like or feel you have little control over when you ejaculate, you may have PE.
Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that can be used off-label to treat PE. It works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, which can help delay ejaculation. The medication can be taken either daily or on an as-needed basis. Our medical practitioners take your frequency of need into consideration when prescribing for premature ejaculation.
Many SSRIs are used off-label for premature ejaculation, such as Sertraline (Zoloft) or Dapoxetine (Priligy). Please inform our medical practitioners if you were taking an SSRI previously for premature ejaculation and would like to switch to paroxetine.
Insurance coverage for Paroxetine as a treatment for premature ejaculation may vary among different insurance plans in Canada, as it is used off-label rather than for its indicated use. It’s advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand the extent of coverage for paroxetine.
If Paroxetine 10mg isn’t providing the desired effect, the prescribing medical practitioner might consider adjusting the dose or suggesting other treatment options. It’s essential to communicate with our health team about the effectiveness of the treatment to find the most suitable solution for your situation.
Taking Paroxetine daily can provide a consistent level of the medication in your body, which may be beneficial for continuous management of PE and allows for spontaneous sex. On the other hand, taking it as needed typically involves taking the medication several hours before sexual activity, which DOESN’T allow for spontaneous sex.

Finasteride

Finasteride is a medication used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) at the crown and in the middle of the scalp, as well as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is an enlarged prostate. It belongs to a class of drugs known as 5-alpha reductase inhibitors.
Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the hormone mainly responsible for prostate growth and male pattern baldness.
Finasteride is typically taken once a day, with or without food. It’s crucial to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Consistent daily use is recommended to see the benefits, and it may take a few months to notice an improvement.
Some side effects may include impotence, loss of interest in sex, trouble having an orgasm, abnormal ejaculation, swelling in your hands or feet, headache, runny nose, or skin rash. If you experience these symptoms, please inform our medical staff at support@getgambit.ca, or dial 9-1-1 if you are experiencing a severe side effect and require urgent assistance.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle Finasteride, especially crushed or broken tablets, as it can cause birth defects. Men should inform their healthcare provider about all medical conditions and other medications they are taking.
Finasteride can help slow down hair loss and even regrow some hair by blocking a hormone that causes hair loss. However, it’s not a total cure since results can differ among individuals, and stopping the medication usually leads to hair loss coming back.
It’s important to notify us of all the prescription medication you are taking as certain drug interactions can occur. Make sure to provide a list of all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal products.

Dutasteride

Dutasteride is a prescription medication initially designed to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate. However, it’s also used off-label to treat male pattern baldness due to its ability to block the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for hair loss in men.
By inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT, Dutasteride lowers the levels of DHT in the scalp, which helps to halt the process of hair miniaturization. This can lead to a reduction in hair loss and even regrowth in some individuals, especially in the crown area of the scalp.
Dutasteride is typically taken as a once-daily oral capsule. While dosage may vary, it’s essential to follow the prescribing licensed healthcare practitioner’s instructions. Consistent daily use is often recommended to maintain the drug’s effectiveness, and it may take a few months to observe noticeable improvements.
Common side effects may include sexual difficulties such as decreased sexual desire, erectile dysfunction, or ejaculation problems. Other side effects may include breast tenderness or enlargement, mild dizziness, or ongoing runny or stuffy nose.
It’s important to inform your healthcare provider of all medical conditions and medications you are taking before starting Dutasteride. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid handling Dutasteride, especially if the capsules are crushed or broken, as it can be absorbed through the skin and may cause birth defects.
Severe side effects may include signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. If you experience any severe side effects or unusual symptoms, it’s crucial to contact your healthcare provider or seek medical attention immediately.
Combining Dutasteride with medications like alpha-blockers could have drug-drug interactions, and our healthcare practitioners may need to adjust your treatment plan accordingly. Make

Weight Management

Common methods include a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and behavioral changes. Some individuals also consider weight loss medications or surgical procedures as a last-resort option in their weight loss plan. Our licensed medical practitioners can help with guiding you onto the right path for your health goals.
Typically, adults with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with at least one weight-related health condition (such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes) may be eligible for weight loss medications. Our licensed healthcare practitioners will assess your case and determine if you qualify for treatment.
Our licensed healthcare practitioners take multiple factors into consideration, such as your blood glucose level, Hemoglobin A1C level, weight, height, previous history of weight management, and more.
If you do not qualify for Ozempic or Contrave, our team of registered dietitians are able to help create a personalized treatment plan for you to guide you to your ideal diet and weight goals. Contact our team at support@getgambit.ca to learn more about our registered dietitian services.
Ozempic (Semaglutide): Primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes, it can also aid weight loss by mimicking the action of a hormone (GLP-1) that targets areas of the brain to reduce appetite and food intake.
Contrave (Naltrexone HCl/Bupropion HCl): Combines two medications to affect the central nervous system, increasing the number of calories burned and reducing appetite.
If you experience severe side effects such as chest pain, signs of a liver problem, or mood changes, seek medical attention immediately.
It’s essential to discuss with your healthcare provider before combining these medications with other weight loss treatments, as certain drug interactions can occur. During your online assessment, you will be asked to provide a full list of the current medications you are taking. If you do not know which medications you are taking, our health team will be able to assist by contacting your pharmacy.
Get Gambit works with a team of expert Registered Dietitians to create a holistic weight management program. Alongside medication such as Ozempic or Contrave, you may consider working with a registered dietitian to set out a plan to improve your diet and achieve your weight goals.

It depends. Each province has its own list of medications that are covered, called a formulary. Similarly, each private insurance provider also has a formulary which lists the medications that are covered. We highly recommend checking with your employer for the exact terms of coverage in your plan.

Generally, both provincial and private insurance plans cover the cost of generic (non-brand name) medications. We at Get Gambit are advocates of generic medicines because they contain the same active ingredient at a fraction of the price of brand names.

We forward your provincial health plan and private insurance information to our pharmacy team, who check for coverage of your prescribed medication.

Many treatments are covered by provincial and private insurance plans, which significantly reduce the price you pay. For many people, payment is zero due to insurance coverage.

You may also be covered by a health-spending account at your place of employment. Check with your employer if our doctor services are covered under your account.

Payments

We accept all major credit and debit cards through a secure Stripe payment gateway, as well as Google and Apple Pay.

Card doesn’t support large purchases? We are also the first Canadian online clinic to offer 0% financing from Afterpay to break your medication order into smaller payments over 2 months.

It depends. Public insurance plans will cover treatments for medical conditions if the medication is in the plan’s list of covered medications. Our team will personalize your treatment to a medication that is covered by your public plan, whenever possible.

For cosmetic-related conditions such as hair loss and anti-wrinkle treatments, public plans do not provide coverage. Private plans, however, have a healthcare spending account (HCSA), which may cover your treatment and doctor visits in certain cases. To obtain an official receipt, please contact our support team at support@getgambit.ca.

We collect payment at checkout or when you authorize a payment directly to a member of our health team. If you sign up for auto-refills or a subscription service, you will be charged automatically every period.
